Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how DX Wave Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use Chord Graph, our native application for exploring harmony on Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and our other software published under the DX Wave name.
Chord Graph is designed for privacy by default: there is no separate Chord Graph account, we do not operate advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not sell your data. The chords, progressions, and settings you work with stay on your device under normal use.
This policy should be read together with Apple’s privacy policies and your device settings. Where Apple processes data on our behalf (for example App Store purchases), Apple acts under its own terms.
Who we are
Data controller: DX Wave Limited
Contact: info@dxwavetech.com
Product: Chord Graph (bundle identifier com.dxwave.chordgraph), distributed on the Mac, iPad, and iPhone App Store.
Summary
- No Chord Graph login. We never ask you to create a DX Wave account to use the app.
- No DX Wave servers for your harmony graphs, progressions, or pasted chord text under normal use.
- No third-party advertising or analytics in Chord Graph as shipped by us.
- No iCloud sync in the current version — exploration and preferences are stored locally on each device.
- App Store purchase (if applicable) is processed by Apple; we do not receive your payment card details.
Information Chord Graph processes
“Personal information” means information that identifies you or could reasonably be linked to you. In Chord Graph, this may include content you choose to enter or generate in the app, for example:
- Key, mode, and chord-quality settings (tonality, diatonic defaults, style profile such as Pop or Jazz)
- Focus chord and graph navigation state (selected nodes, highlighted paths)
- Suggested and selected progressions, next-chord choices, and target ending chords
- Chord symbols you paste or type for analysis, suggestion, or sketch completion
- Inspector and analyzer text derived from your current harmony context
- App preferences stored on device (for example sidebar input mode, progression bar count, playback tempo and effects)
We do not require your real name, email address, or phone number to use Chord Graph. Any text you type into chord or progression fields is stored as part of your session and preferences under your control on that device.
What we do not do
Unless this policy states otherwise, DX Wave does not:
- Collect your Chord Graph content on our own servers
- Use your data for advertising or sell it to data brokers
- Embed third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or social SDKs in Chord Graph
- Operate a cloud harmony service that reads your graphs outside your devices
- Transmit your chord explorations to DX Wave for ranking, training, or profiling
Support requests you send us by email are handled separately; we use your email address only to respond to you.
Apple services
Chord Graph is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple processes download, purchase, refund, and Family Sharing data under the Apple Privacy Policy.
App Store purchases: If Chord Graph is sold as a paid app or offers in-app purchases, Apple processes payment and provides us only the information needed to validate purchases (for example transaction identifiers), not your full card details.
iCloud: The current version of Chord Graph does not sync your graphs or progressions via iCloud or CloudKit. If we add optional sync in a future release, we will update this policy and describe what is uploaded and how to control it.
Local-only data
Under normal use, information is stored on the device where you use Chord Graph, including:
- Your current key, mode, focus chord, and graph layout for that session
- Preferences written to UserDefaults on that device (for example default progression length, sidebar mode, diatonic chord default)
- Playback settings (tempo, loop, stereo spread, reverb) for built-in audio preview
Data on one device is not automatically combined with another device unless you export or copy content yourself. Uninstalling the app removes local app data subject to platform behaviour.
Audio playback
Chord Graph can play focus chords and progressions using on-device audio (synthesized sound on Mac, iPad, and iPhone). Audio is generated locally from the chords you are exploring; we do not stream your playing to DX Wave servers.
Chord Graph does not require microphone access for routine operation. We do not record or upload your playing unless you separately choose to share audio outside the app.
App Store purchases
Chord Graph may be offered as a paid download and/or with optional in-app purchases on the App Store. Purchases are processed by Apple. We use Apple’s frameworks to unlock the app on your device. We do not store your payment card number.
Family Sharing and refund policies follow Apple’s App Store rules. Purchase history is available through your Apple ID account.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information. In practice:
- Access and correction: View and change your settings and entered chord data directly in Chord Graph.
- Deletion: Clear pasted text and selections in the app. To remove all local app data, delete Chord Graph from your device.
- Stop processing: Quit the app; no cloud copy of your graphs is kept by us in the current version.
- Complaints: You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can help.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland: Our legal bases typically include performance of the app experience you request, legitimate interests in operating and improving secure software, and compliance with law.
California: We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
To exercise rights that cannot be fulfilled in the app, email info@dxwavetech.com from the address you used to contact us (if any). We may need to verify your request as permitted by law.
Retention and deletion
Your Chord Graph data persists on your devices until you delete it or uninstall the app. We do not set a separate retention period on our servers because we do not host your harmony content.
Uninstalling Chord Graph removes local app data in the app container subject to macOS, iPadOS, or iOS behaviour. Information you copy from the app (for example progression text) is under your control when you paste or send it elsewhere.
Security
Chord Graph runs in the platform App Sandbox, uses Apple’s standard APIs for storage and audio, and relies on the security of your device and Apple ID. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; keep your devices and Apple ID credentials safe.
If we become aware of a security issue affecting Chord Graph, we will take appropriate steps, which may include an app update and notice on our website or App Store release notes.
International users
DX Wave Limited is based in the United Kingdom. If you use Chord Graph from other countries, your information is processed on your devices according to this policy. App Store transactions may involve processing by Apple in countries described in Apple’s documentation.
By using Chord Graph you understand that Apple may process purchase-related data in countries other than your own under Apple’s policies.
Children
Chord Graph is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our own systems. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s use of Apple devices and App Store accounts.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with an updated effective date and version number. Material changes may also be noted in App Store release notes. Continued use of Chord Graph after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
